Vereinte Nationen erkennen ILGA an

Die ILGA, der weltweite Dachverband der schwul-lesbischen Organisationen, erhält wieder den UN-Beraterstatus, der ihr vor 17 Jahren entzogen worden ist.
Der Wirtschafts- und Sozialrat der Vereinten Nationen (ECOSOC) hat am Montag in Genf mit 29 gegen 14 Stimmen der Aufnahme der International Lesbian and Gay Association zugestimmt. Für die Aufnahme der 1978 gegründeten Nichtregierungsorganisation votierten neben Deutschland andere EU-Länder, die Vereinigten Staaten sowie mehrere Länder aus Südamerika und Asien. Dagegen stimmten unter anderem Russland, China sowie vor allem Staaten aus Afrika und dem Nahen Osten. Die ILGA ist ein Dachverband für 750 schwul-lesbische Organisationen aus aller Welt.

With 29 votes in favour, 14 against and 5 abstentions, the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted today consultative status to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA).
