Ich frage mich heute, ob mit der Ermordung von John F. Kennedy das Ende der offenen, altruistisch orientierten Gesellschaft eingeläutet wurde. Gewiss, in optimistischen Momenten, sehe ich auch das Leben und den Erfolg eines Nelson Mandela. Und doch kann man sich der Logik dieses Textes nicht entziehen, der das Ende Amerikas zum Thema hat. Dylan meint natürlich das Ende eines guten Amerikas.
